The center showcases rescued olms (Proteus anguinus) that were carried to the surface by underground floods—an environment where they would not have survived. After 200 years, displaying the olm to the public no longer has a negative impact on nature and is now animal-friendly.
Researchers from the Tular Cave Laboratory, who have been studying and protecting olms for over 60 years, will take you on a guided tour of the center. When visiting the cool underground (10–12 °C / 50–54 °F), don’t forget to bring warm clothing and sturdy footwear.
The experience includes:
- Entrance fee
- Guided tour of the SOS Proteus Info Center
