Chartreuse & Wine (Kartuzija & vino)
Following the excellent response from visitors to last year’s premiere event—which celebrated the 860th anniversary of the Carthusians’ arrival in Slovenske Konjice—the wine and culinary afternoon returns to the Žička Carthusian Monastery. The event blends historical legacy, wine heritage, and culinary experiences in the heart of one of Slovenia’s most precious cultural monuments.
The Carthusia & Wine (Kartuzija in vino) event will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2026, between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM in the small cloister of the Žička Carthusian Monastery.
Why the Carthusians and wine?
As early as the 12th century, Carthusian monks were exceptional viticulturists. They brought with them from France the knowledge of producing Pinot Noir, Blaufränkisch, and Chardonnay—varieties that still define the wine character of our region today. The Carthusia & Wine event pays tribute to this heritage and to the modern winemakers of the Rogla–Pohorje destination, who continue their story with the same dedication.

Culinary Accompaniment:
The culinary experience will be provided by the oldest still-operating inn in Slovenia—Gostilna Gastuž, 1467, which will offer dishes inspired by Carthusian cuisine.
Tasting System:
The event will feature uniform stands, tasting glasses, and a token system:
Tasting Package (€19) includes: – a souvenir glass with a pouch – 1 food token – 1 drink token
Additional tokens: – €3 for a wine sample – €8 for a meal

Once again, the event will be accompanied by Carthusian silence, birdsong, the scent of summer, good company, and the relaxed rhythm of a weekend afternoon among ancient walls.
