Belokranjski žlinkrofi (dumplings)

In different Slovenian regions, “žlinkrofi” are prepared in various ways. The most famous ones are those from Idrija, which differ from those in Bela krajina by their filling.

 

The tiny pockets are usually filled with a mixture of chicken and beef, roasted onion, breadcrumbs and parsley. The žlinkrofi are cooked for about 15 minutes and then served on chicken’s fat or butter.
