After a decade of remarkable success and more than 35,000 visitors, Veronika of Desenice returns to Celje Castle for its final season in 2026. Marking the tenth anniversary of its premiere, this farewell production celebrates one of Slovenia’s most acclaimed and beloved musical spectacles. Set within the majestic surroundings of Celje Castle and enhanced by breathtaking 3D projections, the tragic story of the forbidden love between Frederick II and Veronika unfolds as far more than a historical romance. Combining powerful music, striking visual effects and a unique heritage setting, the production explores timeless themes of power, prejudice, injustice and the price of love. Its emotional depth and enduring relevance continue to resonate strongly with contemporary audiences. Eva Černe Avbelj returns in the title role, joined by Klemen Bunderla, Tjaša Hrovat Steklasa, Željka Predojević Korošec, Srđan Milovanović and Marjan Bunič. Acclaimed tenor Gregor Ravnik will also once again be part of the cast.
