Koper: Carlo Goldoni: La bottega del caffè, Theatre Performance

The historic Loggia Café on Tito Square in Koper will be transformed into a vibrant open-air stage for La bottega del caffè, one of the most celebrated comedies by the renowned Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni. Directed by Janusz Kica, this lively production pays homage to the timeless culture of cafés and social encounters, while skilfully revealing the ambitions, weaknesses and contradictions of human nature. Set within a bustling world of intrigue, deception and everyday drama, the story unfolds as a captivating “theatre of life”, bringing together characters from different social backgrounds against the backdrop of one of Koper’s most atmospheric historic settings. Widely regarded as one of theatre’s greatest observers of human behaviour, Goldoni combines wit, humour and psychological insight to explore enduring themes of freedom, morality and social convention. The performance will open the 33rd Primorska Summer Festival.

Cast: Primož Forte, Tina Gunzek, Nikla Petruška Panizon, Franko Korošec, together with guest actors Alojz Svete, Aleš Valič, Romeo Grebenšek, Lara Jankovič, Francesco Borchi and Nejc Kravos.
