Koper: To where refosco grows

When you gaze towards the sea from one of the most beautiful vantage points above Koper, you know that you are in Slovenian Istria where grapes for exquisite wine grow. At the farmhouse with a typical Istrian courtyard, you will learn about the history of Istria and Istrian wine-growing. Walk to the oldest Refosco vineyard in Europe, which is more than 150 years old. The wine produced from these old vines matures in oak barrels in a boutique wine cellar for at least a year. In the vineyard or in a house with a hearth, enjoy an Istrian marenda (mid-morning snack) the kind our grandfathers, our predecessors used to eat – with dried meat products and freshly baked home-made bread. In Marezige, at the first wine fountain in Slovenia, you can also taste our local wines and delicious Istrian specialities.

Experience includes:

  • visit to the farmhouse with a view of the Bay of Koper
  • walk through the vineyard, planted way back in 1880
  • wine tasting at the wine cellar
  • Istrian snack (marenda) with typical Istrian delicacies
  • tasting of local wines at the first wine fountain in Slovenia
  • possibility of purchasing Istrian culinary specialities in the pavilion next to the fountain
